🇨🇦 Ottawa spent $1.3 billion proving the border cuts both ways
The funniest part is the state broadcaster trying to debunk Trump while accidentally admitting the obvious: guns, narcotics and people are moving both directions across the Detroit River. Their own ride-along with U.S. border agents shows a 1,388-kilometre water boundary, seven million annual crossings in the Windsor-Detroit corridor, and officers openly saying they cannot stop every boat. But sure, Canadians were told to swallow another $1.3 billion for border security because the problem was supposedly just American paranoia, as reported.
This is the Trudeau-era formula in one frame: deny the crisis, fund the bureaucracy, then call it nuanced when reality leaks out. Ottawa trashed sovereignty for years with mass inflows, lax enforcement and PR politics, then acts offended when Washington notices the border is not exactly a model of control. The lesson is not that Trump was wrong in tone. The lesson is that Canada’s ruling class is too busy managing headlines to manage a country.
