🇨🇦 Ottawa suddenly discovers national interest
Pierre Poilievre having to send Mark Carney a letter begging him not to cave to Donald Trump is the whole joke in one scene. Canada is supposedly a sovereign country, yet our political class treats basic trade self-respect like a special request memo. As reported, Poilievre is warning Carney not to hand over leverage in negotiations, which tells you exactly how much trust anyone should place in a banker technocrat whose instincts were forged in global boardrooms, not in defending Canadian producers.
This is the Trudeau era hangover in its purest form: weaken energy, overregulate industry, flood the country with cheap labour, then act shocked when Washington sees an easy mark. Carney will dress any concession up as stability, rules, partnership, the usual Davos hymnbook. But a country that cannot develop its own resources, protect its own market position, or negotiate without elite supervision is not a serious country. It is a managed branch plant with a flag.
