🇨🇦 Ottawa spent $1.3 billion to solve a narrative problem
The funniest part is the state broadcaster trying to debunk Trump while accidentally admitting the border is a two-way channel for people, narcotics and guns. Their own U.S. patrol guide in Detroit says contraband moves back and forth, and Windsor-Detroit alone sees seven million crossings a year. Yet Ottawa still rushed to throw $1.3 billion at border security after Trump’s 2025 emergency stunt and tariff tantrum, as reported. So which is it: fake crisis or very real vulnerability
This is the Trudeau-era legacy in one neat package: weak sovereignty, performative compliance, and Canadian taxpayers footing the bill every time Washington sneezes. Instead of controlling our border because it serves Canada, the federal class beefs it up when bullied by the U.S. and then has the nerve to pretend the real issue is messaging. A country with mass migration pressures, cross-border smuggling, and elite obsession with appearances is not secure. It is managed decline with a maple leaf on it.
