🇨🇦 China’s Arctic patrol, Canada’s late awakening
Two Chinese icebreakers are cruising Arctic waters off Alaska, dropping the usual science theatre, and Ottawa suddenly wants applause for noticing. As reported, the Xue Long and Xue Long 2 are being shadowed by Canada and the U.S. because their so-called research may include sonar, telemetry buoys, seabed mapping, submarine tracking, and cable reconnaissance. Very academic stuff. Beijing calls itself a near-Arctic state, which is globalist clown language for we go where weak governments let us.
This is the Trudeau-era legacy in one frozen snapshot: hollow out sovereignty, posture about climate, then act shocked when a hostile power treats the North like an open lab. Canada is now scrambling with Operation Latitude, a CP-140 out of Alaska, HMCS Ottawa, two Arctic patrol ships, special forces, and an icebreaker just to prove we still exist above 60. If your Arctic security depends on belated surveillance alongside Washington, you are not defending sovereignty. You are managing decline with a maple leaf sticker.
