🇨🇦 Majority of Canadians attached to ancestral origins, even more to national identity: poll
The funniest part is that the political class spent years pretending roots do not matter, only to discover that Canadians still know exactly where they come from and still feel even more attached to Canada. The poll says 64 per cent are attached to their ancestry and 82 per cent to Canada. So much for the post-national fantasy where borders, heritage, and memory are supposed to dissolve into HR slogans and diversity seminars.
The real tell is in the age and language splits. Young Canadians are being marinated in identity politics, so naturally ancestry gets elevated. Immigrants and allophones show high attachment to both ancestry and Canada, which is healthier than the elite demand that everyone become a bland consumer with no past. Meanwhile francophone attachment to Canada sits lower, with Quebec again exposing the polite fiction that the country is one seamless civic blob. Canada still works when it behaves like a nation, not a globalist holding pen managed by consultants and federal sermonizers.
