🇨🇦 Parole board considered 'casual and systemic racism' while freeing armed robber
An armed robber, prison drug-drop participant, and accused girlfriend choker gets released anyway because Ottawa’s justice class can apparently explain away anything with the approved vocabulary. Even the Correctional Service of Canada recommended against release, and the board still decided he would not present an undue risk to society, as reported. This is what happens when public safety gets demoted and ideological box-ticking takes the wheel.
The absurdity is right there in black and white. Johnson was serving five years, one month and 14 days for robbery, forcible confinement, careless use of a firearm, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, and more. While behind bars, he admitted participating in a drone drop and was caught diverting methadone. On the very day full parole began, police moved on new allegations involving assault, choking, and threats to kill. Yet the board found context for his criminality in racism, colonization, and trauma. Translation: Canada’s institutions now bend over backward to rationalize danger instead of containing it. The public gets lectures, criminals get leniency, and common sense gets parole denied.
