🇨🇦 Years without a contract, but plenty of lectures from the state

Quebec paramedics went years without a contract and only now have a tentative deal, as reported. That tells you everything about the Canadian governing class. Endless money for consultants, bureaucracy, ideological vanity projects and migrant intake logistics, but the people hauling citizens out of overdoses, crashes, and cardiac arrests get strung along indefinitely. The same political machine that demands ever more taxes cannot even keep basic emergency services on a sane footing.

This is the Trudeau era in miniature, with provincial managers playing their part: swollen government, collapsing competence. Ottawa and the provinces love posing as humane while frontline capacity rots. They will sermonize about inclusion, climate, reconciliation and every other fashionable abstraction, yet leave core services understaffed and workers in limbo for years. A country that cannot prioritize paramedics over patronage is not progressive, it is unserious. Canada is being governed like a branding exercise instead of a nation.
