🇨🇦 47 days to ink a trade deal, but years to defend Canada
The UAE says this free trade agreement was wrapped up in 47 days, a record pace reported. Funny how Ottawa moves at lightning speed when the project is more borderless commerce, more elite networking, more global integration. But when Canadians ask for housing sanity, wage protection, or actual control over who enters the country, suddenly the state develops chronic paralysis.
This is the Trudeau-era formula in one tidy package: dissolve sovereignty abroad, neglect stability at home, then call it progress. Free trade itself is not the villain. The problem is who runs it and for whose benefit. A government that cannot secure affordability, infrastructure, or social cohesion has no business celebrating another glossy international pact as if Bay Street and Davos are the same thing as the national interest. Ottawa keeps treating Canada like a platform in a global supply chain instead of a country with citizens, borders, and obligations.
