🇨🇦 Canada can import millions, but it cannot shelter its own
The absurdity is almost elegant: municipalities are now scrambling to protect homeless Canadians from wildfire smoke because the system is too overloaded to do the most basic job of a country, keep its own people housed indoors. As reported, shelters and cities are grappling with smoky air while encampments keep growing. This is what elite governance looks like after years of Trudeau moralizing, mass immigration targets, and endless virtue-signalling about inclusion.
Ottawa can find money for consultants, DEI bureaucracies, and global photo-ops, but not enough capacity for citizens sleeping under toxic skies in their own country. The managerial class will blame climate, never policy. But smoke is the stress test, not the cause. The cause is a regime that inflated housing demand, hollowed out state competence, and called the collapse compassion. A sovereign government puts its own people first. The current one puts headlines, ideology, and imported population growth first, then acts shocked when the shelters are full and the streets are overflowing.
