🇨🇦 Ottawa covers everything except the patient
A Quebec mother with Stage 4 cancer can get Truqap through Quebec’s public system under exceptional circumstances, but as a federal employee she’s trapped in Ottawa’s own benefits maze and told to cough up $12,000 a month. That is the Trudeau-era state in one grotesque snapshot: endless bureaucracy, lavish spending, and somehow no money when an actual Canadian needs treatment. Even Canada Life says the federal government decides what is covered, while Treasury Board coolly confirms the drug is excluded, as reported.
This is what managerial Canada does best: duplicate systems, pass the buck, then hide behind policy language about efficacy and cost effectiveness while a 43-year-old mother of four burns through savings to stay alive. Ottawa can fund consultants, DEI machinery, climate theatre and every fashionable globalist vanity project under the sun, but a public servant needing proven cancer medication gets a form letter and a shrug. Sovereignty starts with serving your own people, not building a bloated state that can’t manage basic national obligations.
