🇨🇦 Ottawa wants AI server farms while Canadians can barely keep the lights on
The same federal class that throttled pipelines, carbon-taxed households and turned reliable energy into a morality play now wants a national sprint to build power-hungry data centres. Genius. Ottawa is suddenly obsessed with AI infrastructure, as reported, even though these facilities devour electricity and water while producing very few jobs once the ribbon-cutting photos are done.
This is the Trudeau-era formula in one neat package: punish productive industry, subsidize fashionable industry, then pretend sovereignty is being strengthened while Canada becomes a utility colony for global tech giants. If the state were serious about national interest, it would start with cheap abundant energy, domestic ownership, and capacity that serves Canadians before multinational cloud empires. Instead we get another elite fantasy where ordinary people pay more, provinces strain their grids, and bureaucrats call it innovation. The regime that cannot build homes now wants to build the machine room for the digital aristocracy.
