🇨🇦 Canada gets tariff threats over its own smoke
The absurd part is not Donald Trump floating tariffs over wildfire smoke. The absurd part is that Canada now looks so unserious that even this lands as plausible statecraft. U.S. ambassador Pete Hoekstra says Trump is serious, as reported, because Ottawa has spent years proving it can posture about climate, taxes, and virtue while failing at basic land and fire management.
This is the Trudeau-era legacy in one choking cloud: carbon sermons, bureaucratic paralysis, neglected resource stewardship, and a country so hollowed out that foreign officials casually talk about punishing our exports over airborne fallout. The same political class that cannot secure borders, control immigration levels, build infrastructure, or defend national cohesion also cannot keep half the continent from breathing our incompetence. And of course the media frame is Trump outrage, not Canadian decline. A sovereign country handles its forests, protects its economy, and does not invite lectures or threats from Washington because its governing elites are too busy performing globalism at home.
