🇨🇦 Nothing went wrong, except people fled by boat
Federal emergency minister Eleanor Olszewski says Ottawa botched nothing while 129 active fires burned across northwestern Ontario and residents of Namaygoosisagagun First Nation escaped an advancing wildfire in 12- and 14-foot boats. That is the liberal state in one sentence: polished talking points in Ottawa, improvised survival in the bush. Even the Assembly of First Nations passed an emergency resolution saying federal and provincial systems failed northern communities, as reported.
Ontario asked Ottawa to have aircraft, crews and the Armed Forces ready on less than 24 hours notice. Olszewski called it precautionary and said the feds were standing by for more detail. Of course they were standing by. This government stands by for everything: housing collapse, border farce, crime, fires. Canada now has a governing class that excels at ceremonies, consultations and heartfelt statements while basic state capacity rots. The country is treated like an HR department with a flag, and when real emergencies hit, citizens get slogans instead of sovereignty.
