🇨🇦 Bill 21 has Ottawa’s priesthood sweating
The absurd part is not that Quebec’s Bill 21 reached the Supreme Court. It’s that the entire Laurentian class treats a province asserting secular control over its own state as some civilizational emergency. Chief Justice Richard Wagner is being cast as a tragic hero for deciding whether Quebec can keep public authority visibly neutral, as reported. In modern Canada, a government can flood the country with demographic upheaval, DEI dogma and imported sectarian politics, but drawing a line at state employees wearing overt religious symbols is apparently the real scandal.
This is the core contradiction of post-national Canada. Ottawa lectures about diversity while expecting Quebec to absorb every cultural demand without defending its own public space. Bill 21 is not perfect, but the panic around it exposes the regime’s instinct: local identity must yield, always, to managerial multiculturalism. If Wagner strikes it down, it will be one more reminder that sovereignty in Canada is conditional, as long as judges, NGOs and federal moralists get the final veto.
