🇨🇦 Two-thirds had prior police contact, and Ottawa still pretends this is about your hunting rifle
StatsCan says firearm-related intimate partner violence was 58 per cent higher in 2020 to 2024 than in 2010 to 2014, and two-thirds of the 923 accused in 2024 had already been accused of a criminal offence in the previous six years, as reported. Translation: the state knew who many of these people were. Yet the Trudeau-era reflex is always the same circus act: more red-flag theatrics, more restrictions on lawful owners, more press conferences about safety while repeat offenders keep circulating through the system.
The article quietly admits the rates are nearly three times higher outside cities and highest in the Prairies and territories, while handguns have overtaken rifles and shotguns. So this is not some moral case for harassing farmers and duck hunters. It is another case study in liberal governance: disarm the compliant, fail to control the violent, then use female victims as political cover for a power grab. Canada does not need more performative federal virtue. It needs a justice system that protects citizens before the body count becomes a talking point.
