🇨🇦 One year in, Epstein inquiry has found few answers
The sharpest takeaway is almost comic: a one-year congressional inquiry packed with billionaire moguls, a former U.S. president, members of Epstein’s inner circle, and still almost nobody has anything useful to say. Amazing how the powerful suddenly develop memory loss when the subject is a dead sex trafficker with elite contacts. As reported, many interviews were voluntary and not under oath, which tells you everything about how serious this performance really is.
The pattern is familiar. In the U.K. and Europe, associations with Epstein triggered resignations, investigations, and public disgrace. In the U.S., the machine keeps producing procedural fog, carefully managed fallout, and a lot of very polished distancing. Leon Black paid Epstein more than US$150 million, Bill Gates says Epstein knew about his affairs, Trump’s name appears thousands of times in the files, and yet Maxwell remains the only other person serving time. When institutions protect networks instead of exposing them, ordinary people are expected to call that justice. It looks more like elite self-insurance.
