🇨🇦 Canada can fund endless apologies, but not functioning communities
Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati is busy apologizing because a former city official said Kashechewan evacuees hurt tourism, as reported. Classic Canadian governance in one pathetic snapshot: years of state failure, then a moral panic over who said the quiet part out loud. The real scandal is not bad optics for a tourist town. It is that people are still being shuffled out of their own community like internal refugees while every level of government performs compassion for cameras.
This is the Trudeau-era formula applied to everything: neglect the basics, import chaos, then punish anyone who notices consequences. Ottawa can sermonize about reconciliation, diversity and inclusion, but apparently cannot build durable infrastructure or solve chronic displacement inside its own borders. A sovereign country that cannot house its own citizens in their own communities has no business lecturing anyone about justice. The political class would rather police language than fix the rot, because managing decline is easier than governing.
