🇨🇦 Carney promises cheaper driving with rules that won’t meet his own target
Mark Carney scrapped Trudeau’s explicit EV sales mandate, then repackaged the same green social engineering as tailpipe math. Now even the climate lobby is complaining the plan is too weak. His 74 grams-per-mile standard is supposed to deliver 75 per cent EV sales by 2035, yet analyses cited in reported peg the result at 62 to 68 per cent, with another estimate below 50 per cent. So Canadians get the costs, the compliance bureaucracy, and the sermonizing, without even hitting Ottawa’s own fantasy benchmark.
This is the Trudeau era in a new suit: manipulate the car market, call it affordability, and pretend families heading out on summer road trips are the problem. If gas prices are crushing households, maybe stop chaining Canada to global carbon dogma while leaving us exposed to oil shocks and imported EV supply chains, including Chinese vehicles. Ottawa says it is confident. Of course it is. Confidence is free. Reliable energy, industrial sovereignty, and honest policy are apparently too expensive.
