🇨🇦 Ottawa fears Alberta more than Washington
The funniest part is not Pete Hoekstra denying any Trump team plot with Alberta separatists. It is that the political class needed a denial at all. When a U.S. ambassador has to publicly say no, we are not secretly running your western rebellion, that tells you how cracked Canada’s federation has become under Trudeau-era rule. As reported, Hoekstra says there have been no meetings and no strategy sessions with separatists.
Fine. Then the real story is domestic: Ottawa has taxed, regulated, lectured, and humiliated Alberta so thoroughly that elites now reflexively blame foreign intrigue instead of their own sabotage. Easier to mutter about Trump than admit decades of equalization abuse, energy warfare, and Laurentian contempt built this. The regime that cannot control borders, housing costs, crime, or demographic upheaval suddenly wants us to panic about phantom American puppeteers. Classic deflection from a hollow centre that treats national unity like a branding exercise while gutting the nation itself.
