🇨🇦 60,000 nurses, one collapsing system
B.C. is sending nurses to the picket line at Vancouver General while pretending essential services are still fine. Right. When 60,000 nurses are represented by a union that voted 98.2 per cent for strike action, that is not a labour hiccup, it is a system-level failure the province can no longer hide, as reported. Overtime bans, refusal of non-nursing duties, pickets starting July 7, and negotiations that stalled after May’s rejected deal tell you everything the bureaucrats do not want said out loud.
This is the Trudeau-era Canadian model in miniature: import endless demand, drown public infrastructure, then act shocked when staffing, safety, and morale implode. Nurses cite unsafe staffing and workplace violence, and the government response is the usual managerial sludge about returning to the table. No serious national interest, no capacity planning, no sovereignty over who and what our systems are built to serve. Just ideological mass-growth politics and a health-care machine cracking in public while officials recite press-release therapy.
