🇨🇦 Ottawa made Canada a trade liability
The humiliating part is not that Washington is skeptical. It is that Canada earned it. The U.S. is now openly tying CUSMA renewal to Ottawa’s cozy, confused relationship with Beijing, as reported. After years of Trudeau-era chest-thumping about values, our ruling class managed the rare feat of looking weak, dependent, and unserious to both China and the Americans.
This is what post-national management looks like in real life. A country with vast resources, a captive U.S. market next door, and every strategic advantage somehow drifts into being treated like a possible back door for Chinese interests. Brilliant work from the consultant state. While Ottawa obsessed over DEI sermons, carbon rituals, and importing cheap labour to suppress wages and inflate GDP optics, it neglected the one thing an actual government is supposed to defend: national leverage. Sovereignty is not a slogan and trade credibility is not automatic. You lose both when your elites worship global access more than national interest.
