🇨🇦 Niagara is not the problem, Ottawa is
The absurd part is not that Niagara Falls businesses complained about evacuees. The absurd part is that in a G7 country, people from Kashechewan are still being cycled out of their own community like permanent domestic refugees while politicians stage another morality play. As reported, the outrage is aimed at comments about tourism optics, not at the governing class that has spent decades burning money while basic infrastructure in the North remains a recurring disaster.
This is late-stage Canadian governance in one neat package: endless land acknowledgments, endless federal spending, endless crisis management, zero competence. Ottawa can lecture citizens about reconciliation, diversity, and compassion on command, but somehow cannot deliver stable living conditions inside its own borders. And when locals notice the strain, they are told the real crime is saying it out loud. That is the Trudeau-era model in miniature: moral blackmail over practical failure, with taxpayers footing the bill and no one in power ever fixing the root problem.
