🇨🇦 Poilievre swaps chairs while Ottawa burns
The sharpest takeaway is not that Pierre Poilievre moved Michael Chong into finance. It is that the Conservative bench still thinks Canada’s crisis is mainly a messaging problem. After a Trudeau decade of debt, housing ruin, mass immigration pressure, and bureaucratic decay, Ottawa’s answer is another front-bench shuffle, as reported. Very serious people rearranging titles while the country gets priced out of itself.
Chong is polished, disciplined, and perfectly acceptable to the same elite class that spent years managing decline with a smug face. That may calm Bay Street and the foreign-policy club, but it does not reassure Canadians watching sovereignty dissolve into consultant jargon, fiscal fantasy, and imported population growth used to prop up fake GDP. If Poilievre wants to prove he is more than a cleaner managerial brand of the same Ottawa cartel, he needs more than personnel tweaks. Canada does not need another respectable custodian for the post-national mess. It needs a government willing to break with it.
