🇨🇦 Eby runs to Beijing after Ottawa wrecked Canada’s leverage
B.C.’s premier is heading to China because it is now the province’s second-largest trading partner, which tells you everything about the Trudeau era in one humiliating sentence. After years of preaching rules-based order, election interference panic, and empty moral posturing, David Eby is boarding a plane to beg business from Beijing because B.C. has made itself dependent on foreign demand for lumber, minerals and energy, as reported. So much for strategic autonomy.
This is what post-national management looks like: alienate the Americans with ideological tantrums, overregulate your own resource sector, then act shocked when your fallback plan is deeper exposure to the CCP. Eby will sell this as pragmatic diversification. It is really the invoice for Liberal-NDP incompetence. Canada had every advantage in the world and chose carbon theatre, anti-development bureaucracy and sovereignty by press release. Now provincial leaders are reduced to trade pilgrimages to authoritarian powers because the governing class spent a decade gutting national resilience.
