🇨🇦 Leading non-Jewish Canadians condemn antisemitism in open letter, call for stricter enforcement of anti-hate laws
Nothing says organic civic concern like 66 corporate, political, media, and academic grandees lining up behind stricter anti-hate enforcement while insisting this is not about restricting free speech. Of course not. It is just Telus, Rogers, Scotiabank, Sunlife, former Toronto mayor John Tory, Stephen Harper, and even the chief executive of the paper chain itself all humming from the same hymn sheet, as reported. When the managerial class starts demanding more disciplined public discourse, regular Canadians should hear the trap door opening.
Antisemitism is real and should be condemned without hesitation. But in Trudeau-era Canada and whatever comes after it, every real social failure somehow ends with the same prescription: more speech policing, more elite supervision, more moral decrees from people insulated from the fallout of the country they helped destabilize. They spent years importing division, institutionalizing grievance, and dissolving any common culture, and now they want tougher enforcement when the predictable fracture shows up. That is not leadership. That is regime maintenance with a nicer press release.
