🇨🇦 Quebec wants secession with a NATO membership card
The funniest part is not that the PQ wants to break up Canada. It is that its 524-page fantasy manual assumes Washington and Ottawa will rush to protect a brand-new republic because geography is destiny. An independent Quebec supposedly leaves, keeps the St. Lawrence leverage, poaches Canadian soldiers, then expects a seat in NATO and NORAD like it is checking into a hotel. Even David McGuinty would not bless the scheme, as reported.
This is the Trudeau-Carney era in one absurd package: hollow out Canadian sovereignty for years, then act shocked when every faction starts shopping for its own bespoke relationship with the continental security apparatus. The PQ thinks 20,000 Quebec-based CAF personnel can simply be invited to switch flags and pledge allegiance to a new republic. Convenient. Canada is treated as a parts bin, NATO as a rubber stamp, and national defence as a spreadsheet exercise for academics. A serious country would stop subsidizing breakup fantasies and start defending its own constitutional and territorial integrity.
