🇨🇦 After gutting the justice system, Liberals suddenly discovered crime exists
Mark Carney’s Liberals now want applause for fixing the mess Trudeau built. After years of lighter sentencing, softer bail and activist criminal justice theory, they’ve rammed through 80 Criminal Code changes, restored some mandatory minimums, tightened bail and even backed Bailey’s Law, as reported. Translation: the same party that spent a decade treating public safety like a sociology seminar finally noticed voters in vote-rich suburbs are tired of repeat offenders cycling through the front door and back onto the street.
The best part is the gall. Steven MacKinnon says the Liberals are now the party of law and order while Sean Fraser and Gary Anandasangaree push tougher penalties with one hand and metadata retention with the other. So yes, they want to look tough on thugs after enabling the chaos, but still can’t resist expanding state surveillance when convenient. This is not a conversion. It’s a polling adjustment wrapped in panic, with Canadians once again expected to forget who broke the system in the first place.
