🇨🇦 Ottawa bans the label, not the danger
Police in Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba and B.C. are warning parents that kids are being groomed on Roblox and Discord, the RCMP logged more than 1,000 Roblox-related reports in 2024 and 2025, and Public Safety already described Roblox as an entry point for malicious actors. Yet Carney’s shiny Safe Social Media Act somehow leaves both platforms outside the fence, as reported. Brilliant governance from the people who regulate by slogan.
This is what Ottawa does best: build a moral panic around whatever flatters the regime, then carve out the actual problem. Roblox has 132 million active users, about 50 million under 13, but because the danger comes through gaming and messaging rather than the approved political buzzword social media, the bureaucrats pretend it is a separate universe. Kids get targeted by a listed terrorist cult, and the state responds with a classification debate. Trudeau-era policy culture survives under Carney: optics first, consequences later, Canadian families last.
