π¨π¦ Here's how much Canadians are earning on average β and the province where wages are highest
Average weekly earnings hit $1,333 in March 2026, up 3.5 per cent year over year, and the regime will naturally try to sell that as progress. Cute. Inflation was 2.8 per cent in April, hours worked slipped 0.3 per cent year over year, and even StatCan admits earnings growth can be padded by employment mix and base-year effects, as reported. Translation: the headline number is doing political PR while households are still getting kneecapped at the pump and at the checkout.
The map says plenty. Nunavut tops the list at $1,874.95 a week, Prince Edward Island sits at $1,177.97, and the gap is nearly $700. So much for the fairy tale of a balanced, united economy. Add 500,300 job vacancies and three unemployed people for every opening, and you get the real Trudeau-era legacy: higher nominal pay, weaker purchasing power, fewer productive opportunities, and a country where Canadians are told to feel richer while planning to spend less. Managed decline with nicer spreadsheets.
