π¨π¦ China 'firmly' opposed to Canadian warship's Taiwan Strait crossing
So Beijing says Canada violates Chinese territorial integrity by sailing through an international waterway, while Ottawa is busy chasing a strategic partnership and a 50 per cent export boost to China by 2030. That is the whole farce in one frame: communist bluster abroad, managerial weakness at home. Even after HMCS Charlottetown made a routine transit on May 22 and 23, the regime still demanded obedience, as reported.
The real issue is not one warship. It is whether Canada acts like a sovereign country or a market appendage begging access to its second largest trading partner while pretending principles cost nothing. China respects international law right up until someone else uses it. And Ottawaβs post-Trudeau class still thinks deeper economic co-operation with an openly hostile power is sophisticated statecraft. It is not sophistication. It is dependency dressed up as diplomacy. If a foreign ambassador warns Canadian parliamentarians where they may travel and the answer is more trade and warmer ties, that is not realism. That is elite submission with a press release.
