π¨π¦ Cut taxes and take big swing at boosting jobs and growth, small business group tells Ottawa
Here is the punchline: the people who actually employ Canadians are begging Ottawa to stop strangling them. CFIB says small and medium-sized businesses account for 64 per cent of private-sector jobs and about 50 per cent of the economy, yet the country is stuck in an entrepreneurial drought where more firms closed over the last four quarters than opened. That is not bad luck. That is policy. Ottawa bloats the state, piles up $1.27-trillion in debt, then acts shocked when productivity is weak and hiring stalls, as reported.
And naturally, the same class that taxed, regulated, and inflated everything into the ground now wants another round of consultations. Classic Trudeau-era governance by committee while the real economy suffocates. CFIB wants the small business tax rate cut to 6 per cent from 9 per cent, higher thresholds, investment incentives, internal free trade, and spending discipline. None of this is radical. It is basic economic survival. But in Ottawa, helping productive Canadians always comes second to ideological vanity projects, bureaucratic sprawl, and debt-funded optics.
