🇨🇦 Three Years for a Predator in a Position of Trust
Tony Paniccia, 49, head of special education at an Ontario high school, got three years for sexually exploiting a teen student 31 years younger. He met her three times in his car late at night, ignored her explicit refusals, assaulted her while she was naked and he stayed dressed, then told her to keep watch and begged her not to tell anyone because it would ruin his life. When she said she was disgusted, he texted back that meeting in his car was so much fun. Classic predator playbook.
Three years. For a department head who groomed and assaulted a vulnerable student under his authority, manipulated her guilt, and prioritized his career over her safety. This is what institutional rot looks like when the same system that enabled him gets to decide his punishment. No amount of DEI seminars will fix a culture that treats child safeguarding as an afterthought and power as a shield.
