🇨🇦 Mark Carney celebrates spending $66.9 billion he doesn't have while Pierre Poilievre reminds everyone the Liberals promised $31 billion two years ago

Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne stood in the House to brag about fiscal discipline after slashing the deficit projection by $11 billion — conveniently ignoring that it's still double what Trudeau's government promised in 2024. The spring update confirms $65.3 billion in red ink, dressed up as restraint because last fall's budget was even worse. Carney's Liberals applauded themselves. Poilievre noted debt servicing now costs $59 billion annually — more than health transfers, more than GST revenue.

This is the new Liberal math: spend recklessly, revise down from catastrophic to merely disastrous, then demand credit for responsibility. Meanwhile $6 billion gets thrown at skilled trades programs while the border remains open and youth unemployment climbs. Champagne calls it stewardship. The rest of us call it a credit card with no limit and our kids' names on it.
