🇨🇦 DEI Deputy Minister Broke Ethics Rules, Says She Did It for Diversity — And Got Promoted Anyway
Christiane Fox, deputy minister of National Defence, was found by Ethics Commissioner Konrad von Finckenstein to have used her position to push an unqualified personal acquaintance — a basketball teammate of her husband — through the hiring process at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, then again at the Privy Council Office. Officials texted each other "holy geez, tell her to lay off with this guy already." The commissioner found her explanations not credible. Her response to staff: she was advancing diversity and inclusion.
This is the iron logic of DEI governance. Break the rules, get caught, invoke the magic words, keep your job. Fox now oversees a department with 94,000 military personnel and a massive new budget. The man she laundered through the system is still employed at the Privy Council Office. Nobody is fired. Nobody faces consequences. Diversity was the mandate — and apparently the alibi covers everything.
