🇪🇺 USDC Gains MiCA Recognition
The EBA has classified Circle’s USDC as a significant e-money token under MiCA, making it the first stablecoin in the EU to receive this designation.
From 12 November 2026, the EBA and France’s ACPR will jointly supervise USDC. The EBA will monitor its capital, reserves, liquidity and redemption arrangements.
Meanwhile, the ECB is considering a digital euro that could launch in 2029, subject to legislation and the successful completion of a pilot.
