FRANCE'S DROUGHT STRETCHES DRINKING WATER SUPPLIES FOR 1 MILLION PEOPLE
France’s historic drought is straining drinking water resources for nearly 1 million people, with more than 83,000 now relying on emergency aid—such as bottled water and tanker deliveries—to meet basic needs.
September rainfall was 70% below average. The extreme dryness has already caused unprecedented cuts in nuclear power generation and sharply reduced crop yields.
Water shortages could persist through 2027.
