🌟 Compliance vs Open: the rating difference

The rating you see when a project goes live isn't always the rating it had when it entered Compliance. We hear your feedback, and want to comment on the idea behind our assessment process 👇🏻

Basically, a borrowing project on Maclear goes through two separate assessments before it reaches you.

🌟 The first is a preliminary review. We look at the business — is it real, is it operating, does it belong on the platform at all. Gambling, casinos, legal grey zones — gone immediately. For everything else, we check the initial financials and decide whether the project moves forward. At this stage, the borrower gets a preliminary rating. It's a working estimate, not a final verdict yet.

🌟 Then comes Compliance. And this is where the major work happens.

If you've noticed that some projects sit in Compliance for ten days or more, that's not a delay. Every document goes through manual review. We cross-check financial statements and repayment capacity, and go back to the borrower with questions. The borrower who responds clearly and provides documentation proactively earns trust.

By the end of this process, we have a final assessment. The rating can change. It can go up or down depending on what the full picture shows. A project only appears in Open once we're confident in it from every angle. That confidence is what the final rating reflects.

Every loan on our platform is backed by real-world assets. Physical things with a verifiable market value — vehicles, machinery, equipment. Things that exist, can be appraised, and can be liquidated if needed.
