The most destructive weapon in the Cupid and Psyche story is accurate information.

Psyche's sisters do not lie. They tell her the truth: she has never seen her husband's face. She married a voice in the dark. She lives in a palace she did not build, served by people she cannot see, loved by something she has never verified.

All of this is true. Every word.

They tell her to bring a lamp. The advice is correct. She brings the lamp. She sees the god. The oil burns him. He flies away. The palace vanishes.

The sisters were right about every fact and wrong about what it meant. Accurate information delivered with the intent to destroy is the oldest weapon in the world. The people who want to save you from your own happiness will always have the better argument. They will always be technically correct. That is what makes them dangerous.
