In one video filmed in Paris, protesters can be heard chanting:
“Louis XVI - we cut off his head! Macron, we’ll do it again!”
By 3:00 p.m., the Interior Ministry reported that 272 people had been arrested across the country since the morning, including 163 in Paris.
The unrest follows weeks of protests by school students over education funding, during which police arrested approximately 7,000 people, most of them minors.
