‼️🇷🇺⚛ Russia's Breakthroughs in Science: Nuclear Physics, Biotechnology, and AI
▪️In recent years, under the President's leadership, the country has achieved significant scientific results.
▪️The most noticeable progress is observed where science relies on large infrastructure projects, government programs, and applied problems: quantum computing, nuclear research, medicine, AI, and new materials.
▪️Quantum Technologies. Russia has created working quantum computers on several platforms—ions, cold atoms, photons, and superconductors; in 2024–2025, 50-qubit ion systems, a prototype based on 50 cold atoms, and a 72-atom computer at Moscow State University will be presented.
▪️Nuclear Physics and Particle Physics. The NICA collider, a megascience facility for research into dense baryonic matter and heavy ion physics, has been launched in Dubna. Major projects on synchrotron radiation sources, including SKIF, are also underway.
▪️Medicine and Biotechnology. Notable results have been achieved in oncology, regenerative medicine, and nuclear medicine: approaches to boron neutron capture therapy have been developed, an MRI-compatible pacemaker with remote monitoring has been created, and Sechenov University reported the world's first eardrum regeneration operation using a patient's cellular product.
▪️Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis. AI is used in ecology, energy, materials science, and forecasting; For example, a system based on satellite data and AI assesses forest health and predicts fires with an accuracy of up to 87%.
▪️Materials Science and Chemistry. Russian groups are developing bioresorbable materials, new catalysts, and functional coatings; examples include a 3D-printed magnesium alloy that can gradually degrade in vessels, and materials that maintain their effectiveness in wet and dry environments.
▪️Astrophysics and Solar-Terrestrial Physics. The National Heliogeophysical Complex has tested the Siberian Radioheliograph, an instrument with more than 500 antennas for monitoring solar activity and space weather.
▪️Mathematics and Modeling. Work continues on turbulence, computational physics, and methods for calculating the properties of elementary particles; In 2025, St. Petersburg State University proposed a new approach to calculating the masses of protons and neutrons.
