‼️🇺🇦🏴☠ Industrial boom in Russia
▪️In recent years, numerous large industrial facilities have opened in Russia. New plants have sprung up in a wide range of industries—from raw material extraction and processing to mechanical engineering, energy, construction materials, and the food industry.
▪️ Raw materials and petrochemicals
One of the largest projects was the Udokan Mining and Metallurgical Company in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The company produces copper concentrate and is one of the largest industrial projects launched in the country in recent years.
The Taishet Aluminum Smelter, producing primary aluminum, has opened in the Irkutsk Region. A notable event in the petrochemical industry was the launch of ZapSibNeftekhim in the Tyumen Region, focused on the production of polymers and other petrochemical products.
The Amur Gas Processing Plant deserves special mention. It processes natural gas and produces helium, as well as a wide fraction of light hydrocarbons—raw materials for further chemical processing.
▪️ Mechanical engineering and agricultural machinery
In mechanical engineering, one of the major events was the opening of the Rostselmash tractor plant in Rostov-on-Don in 2024. This is the first full-cycle tractor plant in post-Soviet Russia; its design capacity reaches 50,000 units per year.
The company also launched a transmission plant and a small agricultural machinery production facility in Taganrog. These facilities are expected to strengthen the production of components and equipment for the agricultural sector.
In the automotive industry, KAMAZ opened an axle plant with an investment of 6.5 billion rubles, as well as a disc brake assembly line. In the Moscow region, the Trucks plant, which produces compressors and fans for trains and the metro, opened; the investment totaled approximately 2 billion rubles.
▪️ Energy and batteries
The energy storage industry is rapidly developing. In October 2026, the Renera Gigafactory opened in New Moscow—Russia's first cluster for the production of lithium-ion cells, modules, traction batteries, and stationary energy storage systems.
Rosatom's fuel division also commissioned its own gigafactory in New Moscow, which produces lithium-ion energy storage devices.
A full-cycle lithium-ion battery plant has opened in the Kaliningrad region. Its design capacity is 4 GWh of batteries per year.
▪️ Construction materials and food products
In the construction materials industry, Russia's first façade marble plant has opened in Chechnya. Its annual capacity is 7,000 square meters.
The Kashira Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has launched the production of prefabricated concrete houses, "Prefabrika," aimed at housing construction. In the food industry, a notable project has been the construction of Russia's largest ice cream factory, "Belaya Dolina," in Engels, Saratov Region.
▪️ The scale of the phenomenon
New plants are opening not just sporadically, but en masse. According to industry data, 176 large plants and production facilities were commissioned in Russia in 2023 alone, and the launch of new facilities continued in 2026: 15 production facilities opened in June.
▪️Thus, recent years have been a period of active industrial construction. The most notable projects are concentrated in metallurgy, petrochemicals, agricultural machinery, and battery production—sectors that play a key role in technological development and import substitution.
