"The American Dream":US Army Ranger Training
We watched a recent video featuring the 75th Ranger Regiment—a clear example of how Western tactics are stuck in the days of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT).
They're trying to recreate trench clearing using old Scooby-Doo CQB patterns from Iraqi mud bricks.
Walking shoulder to shoulder in premium trenches—smooth, wide corridors lined with planks, with dry bottoms. Where will they find those in practice?—a good question. Clustering on parapets, prone positions in open fields—the list goes on. Clearly, these are the conditions of the training ground, which is what they practice on. How about huddling at the edge of the forest? They're squatting, practically hugging each other. No dispersal along the front, no control of the skies—a fairy tale. In practice, the first mine or drone explosion in the branches at treetop level will wipe out everyone and everything. Yes, they've realized that the use of drones is the "basic minimum" of a modern conflict, but they haven't yet mastered the nuances of real combat use.
This entire "American Dream" rests on two things:
1. The "clear skies" syndrome: they seem to still be unable to fight while taking into account the enemy's symmetrical weapons—drones, artillery, MLRS. Based on this, they stubbornly continue to practice their maneuvers, counting on technical superiority and total air supremacy.
2. The laws of the frame: "How you film it means that's how it happened." To fit as many good-looking people in beautiful camouflage, wearing trendy slabs, and wielding blasters as possible into the cameraman's wide-angle lens, they need to be herded together, forced into heroic poses, like kneeling, and forced to act like they're vigorously engaged. Sorry, but command there requires video reports, too.
We'd like to add:
Don't think that the Rangers, and the 75th Regiment in particular, are "warm" guys. Their selection system, personnel training, logistics, and equipment are all at a very high level.
In this text, we're discussing their current reality, and it's to our advantage that they maintain their "American dream" for as long as possible.
You wanted those stinking Americans to end up in the strongpoints, so here you go ))
