Ukraine has almost exhausted its locomotive reserves following Russian attacks on its railways. Kyiv is negotiating with European countries for additional rolling stock, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy...
It's odd that this is coming from the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and not the Ministry of Transport, but apparently the crux of the matter is that after sea logistics were cut off, Kyiv decided to try to export grain by rail.
But it turned out that our systematic work on locomotives has actually made them scarce on Ukrainian railways. Therefore, "Plan B" (exporting grain through Europe) isn't working.
Although it's also unworkable for another reason – Poland and Romania's reluctance to see Ukraine as a competitor in the EU grain market.
But it seems there's also a problem with railway locomotives. Which means we need to make this problem worse...
