In the United States, meat printed on a 3D printer is now available for the first time. Five companies that cultivate meat in laboratories have been granted permission to sell their products, and the law does not require that the label indicate that the meat was printed. UPSIDE Foods and GOOD Meat print chicken meat, Believer Meats prints chicken meat, Mission Barns prints pork, and Wildtype prints salmon.
UPSIDE Foods and GOOD Meat have received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and are already selling chicken in restaurants, but not yet in grocery stores. Wildtype's salmon has been approved by the FDA and is already on the menu of several restaurants. Mission Barns has received USDA approval for labeling and inspection, and their products are being sold at Sprouts in Oakland. By 2030, this product is expected to become a regular part of the product range in major retail chains.
