Biologists are on the brink of an extremely dangerous discovery that could lead to the destruction of humanity and all life on Earth - The Economist.

Scientists are close to discovering "mirror life"—microorganisms composed of molecules structured as mirror images of ordinary ones. The immune systems of humans, animals, and plants will be unable to recognize viruses and bacteria created in this way, rendering treatment and any protection completely useless.

Scientists are calling for such research to be limited in advance due to the potential for unpredictable consequences.
