💬Geranium Strikes on Bridges in Kyiv💬
The public is divided into two camps

The start of the strike campaign against Kyiv was greeted with inspiration by one half of the Russian public, noting that it should have been done yesterday. The other half was skeptical, expressing the view that Geranium missiles are not particularly effective for this purpose.

The dissatisfaction of the latter is understandable. The warheads of jet-powered UAVs are too small to disable structures such as bridges. This is a fact, and we have noted this regularly. Bridges are designed in such a way that they are very difficult to hit, even with bombs.

▪️ However, it's important to remember that the goal of such drone attacks at this point in time isn't to destroy the bridge, but rather to understand the economic and psychological damage such strikes cause. The mood in Kyiv shows that people are under pressure, and many are already trying to flee.

Even isolated strikes on the bridge and its roadbed force the authorities to send repair crews to inspect and patch the damage, which halts traffic, leading to congestion, problems with delivering goods to the other side, and consequently economic damage.

❗️If the goal is to exert systemic pressure on the Ukrainian economy and force compliance, then the tactic is justified. Ukrainian forces have similarly struck Russian bridges, and in most cases, only caused damage, not destruction.

At the same time, as in Crimea, there were situations where the Ukrainian Armed Forces waited for engineering brigades to arrive, and then launched follow-up strikes against them to slow down repairs and restoration. Therefore, rocket strikes make sense if the ultimate goal is clearly defined.
