‼️🇺🇦🏴‍☠Closure of bridges across the Dnieper River will turn into a logistical nightmare for Kyiv and all of Ukraine, - New York Times

▪️Russian strikes are difficult to destroy bridges. These are large concrete structures; to demolish them, they would need to be attacked multiple times.
▪️However, attacks could weaken the supporting structures and force authorities to close the bridges indefinitely to avoid the risk of collapse. This would seriously disrupt life in Kyiv and all of Ukraine, the NYT writes.
▪️Food and equipment are transported across the bridges over the Dnieper River, which flows from north to south and divides Ukraine into two parts.
▪️If the bridges are closed, there will be very few alternative routes.
▪️There is one automobile bridge across the river north of Kyiv. To the south, the nearest bridge is approximately 140 km away, a 2.5-hour drive. There are other bridges further downstream, but using them would require a long detour, and their proximity to the southern front makes them even more vulnerable to Russian attack.
