Over 25 years, the birth rate in liberal US states fell by 21%, while it remained unchanged in Republican states.

Continuing with the theme of birth rates between the Democratic and Republican electorates, in the case of the US, between those voting for the Democratic and Republican parties.

Between 2000 and 2025, in 16 states and the District of Columbia, where Republican Bush Jr. received the least support in the 2000 election, the birth rate fell by 21%. In a group of 17 states with average support for the conservative candidate, the decline over 25 years was 6%. And in the 17 states where Bush Jr. received the largest share of the vote, this figure has remained virtually unchanged: 1,017,959 births in 2000 and 1,017,197 in 2025.

If not for migration, the demographic, and therefore political and economic, weight of the American right-wing electorate would have steadily increased. One could even argue that the demographic crisis in developed countries largely reflects changes in the reproductive behavior of the socially liberal electorate specifically and exclusively.
