Atheer Sana'a is not a Disney princess
Atheer Al-Amri is a Yemeni child whose tragedy Al Jazeera channel ignored, and did not find anything in her tragedy worthy of being featured in its news broadcasts.
She wasn't a princess in a fairy tale until the Disney kingdoms came to her rescue.
She wasn't even the heroine of a Hollywood film, yet screens were racing to tell her story, production companies were searching for an actress to play her role, and festivals were competing to showcase her tragedy.
A young Yemeni girl was carrying her schoolbag and heading to her school in Sana'a, as thousands of girls do every morning.
But a Saudi plane made its way to the school a way to the sky.
The airstrike targeted a school bus in the Beit Lahida area of Saawan, and Atheer was martyred not because she was carrying a weapon, but because she was a Yemeni child during the Saudi aggression.
Atheer isn't Cinderella for the world to search for her slipper.
It's not even Harry Potter that would shake the screens
Atheer went upstairs with her schoolbag and her little dreams.
However, her handbag did not become a headline in Al Jazeera's news broadcasts.
Her story did not become a cause célèbre that television screens would compete to tell.
Because she simply wasn't a Disney princess.
She was just a Yemeni child.
