The program supports scholars working in the areas of:
• Democracy
• Development
• Evaluation of democracy promotion
• Rule of law

Fellows spend the academic year in residence at Stanford, focusing on research, writing and publication while engaging with CDDRL faculty, researchers and other fellows.

🎓 Eligibility
Pre-doctoral applicants: Must currently be enrolled in a doctoral or equivalent program and be at the dissertation write-up / post-coursework stage.
Postdoctoral applicants: Must have received their PhD within 3 years of the fellowship start date or successfully defend their dissertation by 31 July 2027.

💵 Funding includes:
• Fellowship stipend / salary
• Required Stanford tuition for pre-doctoral fellows
• Healthcare and other applicable benefits
